Literature Text

Money;
The clink of coins
Confounds the consciousness,
Cause delusions over dollars.
Consumes
Festers,
Threatens Goodness,
The heart and soul seeks gold.
False promise of riches beckons,
Controls.

This poem inspired by and written for Unseen Writers' current Theme of the week: "Desire" and is a merged Cinquain poem, consisting of two Cinquains merged into one to express the subject fully or a bit more thoroughly.  The lines follow a syllable pattern of 2,4,6,8,2,2,4,6,8,2.

Let's face it, money is the prime desire for any one human, we'll consider nearly anything to grasp the shiny coins and numbered rectangular papers that somehow make our world spin round.  We'll audition for Gameshows, spend hundreds on lottery games, kill and sell "trophies" and take on expansive or multiple jobs, and some of us may rob a convenience store or be a "hired gun" to claim money in that way.  The bottom line is we all want money, but the clink of cash; our golden desires ring to us in a different wavelength from one another.  We have a wide array of purposes to use the money for and what we'll do to get it and at what costs.  Just because the lust for money exists in all of us doesn't make us all sinful in that sense, because in the end, earning money by clean means pay out more in the end compared to taking evil and unlawful approaches.  It takes a lot more effort for a robber or hacker to steal Fair Fortunes from a well-protected household, but the Law can take back all the Dirty Money in a matter of minutes, and there's nothing the offender can do about it.  There's a good chance they'll be taken too.

We all have golden desires, it's up to the humanity in the person to make sure they see to satisfying them in the right way.

No, sex and drugs are the prime desire for any one human.
